The IODP3 Gateway system for submission of SPARC proposals is now open!
We are pleased to announce the IODP3 Gateway system for the submission of SPARC proposals is now open!
The IODP3 Gateway may be accessed via the Submit a Proposal page on the IODP3 website, or directly at gateway.iodp3.org.
Detailed guidance on how to use the IODP3 Gateway to submit a SPARC proposal is available in our revised Submission Guidelines for SPARCs, that now includes step-by-step instructions for requesting a Gateway account and for using this to prepare/submit a proposal.
The revised guidelines also include some minor adjustments to the criteria used by SEP to evaluate SPARC proposals, to improve alignment with the required content of proposals.
Please ensure that you refer to the submission guidelines when preparing a proposal and using the submission system.
Proposals should have a maximum of five co-proponents, with the maximum possible diversity within this team in terms of scientific expertise, affiliation, nationalities, gender, and career stage. Proponents can be from any nation that is currently or was previously a member of a scientific ocean drilling programme, with at least three out of the five proponents coming from IODP3 member nations. Lead proponents from non-IODP3 member nations are permitted.
The deadline for SPARC proposal submission is midnight GMT on Monday 3rd March 2025
For any questions about SPARCs and/or the submission process, please contact us at proposals@iodp3.org
Questions about registering for an IODP3 Gateway account should be sent to enquiries@iodp3.org.
Please note that the IODP3 Gateway system for submission of new drilling/coring proposals is still under development and will be launched as soon as possible. An announcement will be posted on the IODP3 website when this is ready to use.
