NEW! Expressions of Interest to Submit IODP3 Proposals
Our next IODP3 proposal deadlines are coming soon, with less than four months left to get your Magellan3 Workshop, SPARC and Scientific Ocean Drilling proposals submitted to our next round of proposal evaluations.
IODP3 is driven by submission of novel and impactful scientific proposals from our research communities.
These can be:
- Scientific Ocean Drilling proposals for new offshore expeditions (Guidelines)
- Land-to-Sea proposals involving a combination of ocean and continental drilling in a collaboration between IODP3 and ICDP (Guidelines)
- SPARC proposals based on analysis of legacy core materials and data from previous scientific ocean drilling expeditions (Guidelines); and
- Magellan3 proposals for support for workshops aimed at developing new proposal ideas (Guidelines)
Any of these proposal types may be submitted via the IODP3 Gateway at any time of the year. However, submissions will only be assessed after one of the following four deadlines.
- 15 January: Magellan3 Workshop Proposals
- 31 January: Scientific Ocean Drilling and SPARC Proposals
- 1 July: Scientific Ocean Drilling and Land-to-Sea Proposals
- 15 July: Magellan3 Workshop Proposals
This allows us to provide the best possible support to you and your team during the submission of your proposal (and also assists us with planning within the Science Office).
Please note that completion of this form is not mandatory, does not commit you to submit a proposal, and non-completion does not influence the evaluation of any proposal you do submit in any way.
However, we strongly encourage you to complete this form so that the IODP3 Science Office can provide helpful advice as you proceed with your proposal idea.
Please also complete the form if you are intending to submit a follow-on or revised proposal related to one that is already in our system from a previous round.
Completion takes less than two minutes so we look forward to hearing from you!
For any questions about proposals, please email proposals@iodp3.org.
Many thanks from the IODP3 Science Office team!
