Call for Proposals – Magellan3 Workshop Series Programme
Call for proposals to the Magellan3 Workshop Series Programme now open!
The Magellan3 Workshop Series Programme (MG3) invites scientists from IODP3/ICDP member countries to propose workshops for the development of compelling proposals that address the ambitions of the 2050 Science Framework (and the ICDP Science Plan 2020-2030 in the case of Land-to-Sea proposals).
Magellan3 welcomes proposals for workshops aimed at generating offshore drilling/coring, Land-to-Sea or "Scientific Projects using Ocean Drilling Archives" (SPARCs) proposals. Scientific themes must be aligned with the Strategic Objectives defined in the 2050 Science Framework.
Magellan3 workshops are normally expected to take place in IODP3/ICDP member countries, but exceptions can be made when justified. Workshops that combine virtual and face-to-face sessions, in order to both reduce our carbon footprint and allow for wider participation in workshops, can be considered.
Magellan3 Workshop Series proposals may request up to €15,000 in financial support per workshop. Proponents are also encouraged to seek co-funding from other sources.
For more information please read the full call available below.
You should also read the new Guidelines for Magellan3 Workshop Series Proposals that provide a comprehensive overview of the Magellan3 scheme (including details of workshop proposal requirements, how to submit proposals using the IODP3 Gateway, and how proposals are evaluated by the Magellan3 Science Steering Committee).
Applications must be submitted by Monday 1 September 2025 via the IODP3 Gateway.
